My mother underwent a CRS for ovarian cancer under Dr.Sampada Dessai and there were certain post operative complications due to certain pre-existing disorders that manifested in a disorderly manner. The post operative medical care required a lot of attention and empathy and we are grateful enough to Dr.Desai for having devoted a lot of her time for almost a month in ensuring proper recovery. Dr. Sampada Dessai is one of the best Dr. I have seen. Facts, I was informed that my wife is having cancer by other Dr. that too 3 or nearing 4 stage. After showing the entire reports Dr. Sampada said unless and until we do the analysis we cannot confirm what exactly it is. We would like to share the wonderful experience we had with Dr. Sampada Dessai.
My wife was diagnosed to have a ovarian mass in January 2020. She was suspected to have ovarian cancer. At that moment it was very scary for all of us, we wanted the operation and the treatment to be done by the best doctor. We consulted Dr Sampada Dessai,Gynec oncologist (Women cancer specialist) at Sir. H N Reliance Foundation Hospital. Since the treatment had to be started early to prevent spread of disease surgery was prioritized and we did get a early date for surgery .She was admitted under the care of Dr Sampada Dessai , was advised to undergo a surgery with frozen section diagnosis at the time of operation .
Next day Dr. SampadaDessai after doing proper check up, she went through all our reports in detail, she was kind and caring, she gave us some great information about ovarian cancer and treatment options, she provided us reassurance and comfort, explained in details how to go about it. She went above and beyond, and we appreciate our meeting so very much.
On 27/01/2020 as planned they took my wife to the OT exactly at 7.00 am. It was a long and major operation, since they detected cancer at OT; hence it took almost 7 hours to complete the whole procedure, Dr Sampada Dessai came out from OT at 2.30 pm and gave us all the required feedback, and assured us that everything went on smoothly as planned and there wasnothing to worry about, by evening they shifted my wife back to her room.
Dr. Sampada gave timely postoperative care physically and emotionally. She provided excellent care. Dr. Sampada amazed us. We have never seen a doctor who sitsdown to talk and take the time to ask about all of our concerns as well as explain the future plan of treatment. Never once did she talk at me or make me feel like she was hurried to move on to the next person. She explained us the OT test results, the tests she was ordering, and why. She said she done her best at OT and advised us for 6 cycles of Chemotherapy to complete the treatment, her tone was warm and caring.RFH definitely havean amazing Doctor.
We got discharged on 9th postoperative day despite of the extensive surgery that wife had undergone .she recovered well in those 9 days. She was advised to take six cycles of chemotherapy post surgery which we completed in June 2020.
How do you thank someone for saving your wife’s life? Dr.SampadaDessai did just that. She is the dearest person in our life, and we owe her a debt of gratitude that we will never be able to repay. We will also never forget how she lengthened and strengthened my wife’s life due to her proficient hands and incredible knowledge. Words cannot express how much we appreciate her extraordinary skills, and we want to thank her from the bottom of our hearts. While giving my wife so many more precious years, she was also giving that gift to me.
Dr.Sampada Dessai is a highly skilled surgeon, who is extremely intelligent compassionate, caring and incredibly dedicated. She saw my wife regularly in the hospital to make sure she was doing okay after surgery. She answered our every question thoroughly. Surgeons sometimes have a bad reputation for being abrupt and uncaring, but this doctor dispels that image and comes out on top. Honestly, what a wonderful thing to have a doctor who actually cares about our well-being, and takes the time to explain her thinking. She is a great doctor; we count our self lucky to have found her.

Dr Sampada operated on my mother in January of 2022 at P.D.Hinduja hospital,Mahim.
I was a paediatric resident myself at the time and time was a luxury.
My mother Mrs Chhaya was diagnosed with postmenopausal bleeding,microscopically benign endometrial hyperplasia without atypia,
Dr Sampada was germane to our enquiry ,and benevolently explained to my mother that the (hysterectomy)surgery was one of the many treatment options,
But my mother decided to go for surgery as she had concerns about malignant transformation (risk of cancer development)later,
As the covid waves waxed and waned,no senior consultants were operating on patients,And I came across dr Sampada Dessai on google reviews as she was operating actively and she is so efficient and meticulous that the surgery was done within a fort night,
I want to highlight here
Firstly, Dr Sampada is a gem of a person,compassionate and receptive,she allayed our anxiety and explained in excruciating detail the nature of surgery,sought a surgeon opinion as my mother had a previous incisional hernia repair and made sure we are bolstered from every aspect,
My mother had uterine didelphys(uterus had two horns )she was able to negotiate and dissect the two horns and also the possible adhesions as my mother had history of previous two LSCS.
She visits patients at 7am some times earlier and keeps a tab on the patients through her junior doctors she is available for any queries.
She made sure my mother got DVT prophylaxis (fragmin and dvt pump)(as she was immobile for hrs after surgery,)she made sure my mother was up and about with her walker the next day.
Pain management is really trivialised aspect of which most surgeons don’t take appropriate care of ,but in her case my mother was not in pain and it was an end to end seamless experience.
She helped me stay calm and collected by counselling me early in the morning (day of the surgery)
Dr Sampada explained wound dressing and care (even though I’m a doctor myself) and explained the pros and cons of gauze dressing vs OPSITE dressing.....now that is patient care at its zenith.
I REALLY LOVE MY MOTHER,and there could not have been another doctor to do justice to her.
